INSIDER'S GUIDE

Discover Dean Village

Tucked away just a short walk from Edinburgh’s city centre, Dean Village is a hidden gem that can give a glimpse of stepping back in time. What was a thriving grain milling community for over 800 years, driven by the energy of the Water of Leith, the picturesque spot is now a peaceful residential area with charming cobblestone streets, greenery and historic stone buildings.

As you wander along the riverside paths, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of bridges, trickling waterfalls, wildlife and stunning architecture that reflect Edinburgh’s rich heritage and you can even spot a few of one of the UK’s most eminent sculptors Antony Gormley’s ‘6 TIMES’ art installations standing in the water.

Beyond its storybook scenery, Dean Village offers an escape from some of the city’s busier areas, making it the perfect spot for a stroll. You can find your way back to some bustle by following the Water of Leith Walkway towards the majestic Dean Bridge and carry on to Stockbridge for shopping and lunch, or to the nearby Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.

Whether you're a history enthusiast, a photography lover, or simply looking for a peaceful wander, Dean Village is an area worth the visit.
